The world’s best-selling smartphones in January 2021: iPhone 12 first, iPhone 11 fourth, Redmi 9A fifth, iPhone 12 mini eighth

Phoneaccessoriesmall News MacRumors reports that according to market data compiled by Counterpoint Research, Apple’s smallest iPhone since the iPhone SE was released in 2016, the iPhone 12 mini, struggled to earn a spot in the top five best-selling smartphones in the world in January 2021.

Phoneaccessoriesmall has learned that the iPhone 12 mini ranked only eighth among the world’s best-selling smartphones in January this year, according to market data. However, the iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro Max, iPhone 12 Pro and last year’s iPhone 11 enjoy dominance on the list.

The Redmi 9A ranked fifth, the Redmi 9 ranked sixth, the Samsung Galaxy A21s ranked seventh, the Samsung Galaxy A31 ranked ninth and the iPhone SE 2020 ranked tenth.

Sales of the 5.4-inch iPhone 12 mini have been widely reported to be “disappointing,” with Apple reportedly even cutting production due to “much lower” demand than expected. The smaller phone includes the same features as the larger 6.1-inch iPhone 12, including the same camera system, A14 chip and overall design. However, the iPhone 12 mini has a significantly smaller battery capacity and a less immersive display.

Phoneaccessoriesmall has learned that Apple still plans to keep the 5.4-inch mini in the iPhone 13 lineup for 2021, according to the leak. The newer phone, along with the rest of the lineup, could benefit from improved battery life thanks to the A15’s energy efficiency improvements.
